YBC held the 1st Corporate Citizenship Conference in Yemen:
Themed " corporate citizenship-development of Societies "
With Local & International Participation.

On Saturday , The 7th of June ,2014 , The Yemeni Businessmen Club (YBC) held its First Corporate Citizenship Conference in Yemen .The conference was held in Taiz Governorate and Themed " corporate Citizenship...development of Societies " with an impressive array of work papers and events.The conference was under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Industry & Trade Dr. Saad Addeen Ben Taleb.
At the opening of the conference , emphasized the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr. Aiyad, that the private sector has become the top of the economic landscape today as an essential partner and actor in the sustainable development,poverty reduction,youth employment and improving living conditions.
She also called upon the business people to deepen the culture of social responsibility within their companies and adopt this concept in their companies' missions and visions, so that they are partners in taking their part of social responsibility in its various dimensions "economic, humanitarian, social, ethical..etc" and through an institutional work with clear plans and identified goals.
Referring to the role of government in providing a favorable business environment for the companies to meet the challenges and the local and global competition through a number of facilities ,incentives and privileges.
For his part, Deputy Governor of Taiz Mr. Abdulqader Hatem ,said that holding such conference in Taiz governorate embodies the importance of Taiz and its developmental role on the national level in various fields.
Wishing for the conference to come out with certain recommendations by which the developmental goals of the conference will be achieved.
In his part, the Chairman of the Yemeni Business Club (YBC) , Mr.Fathi Abdulwase pointed out that YBC continually seeks to develop high quality developmental programs that embrace important issues of the private sector in collaboration with all stakeholders .. pointing out that holding the conference itself emphasizes the social responsibility of the private sector companies.
The conference discussed a number of working papers focused on the social responsibility of the private sector companies through the presentation of concepts related to the term "corporate citizenship" and display models of regional and local leaders or practitioners of the Corporate Citizenship principles.
The participants at the conference stressed on the importance of raising the level of corporate social responsibility practices through well prepared developmental projects and creating true partnerships between the various sectors.
